Fonts is a word that describes various typefaces used in printing. The average personal computer contains hundreds of these fonts which can be printed bold, underlined or italicized in sizes from tiny 8-point to very-large 72-point. They usually include a complete set of symbols and punctuation marks as well. Scrapbooking fonts are not unlike standard computer fonts with the exception that they are custom designed to have special appearances for use in widespread digital scrapbooking applications.
A quick look at the categories that scrapbooking fonts are available in shows their diversity for scrapbooking applications. Some of these categories include Fun, Decorative, Handwriting, Distressed, Themes and Holiday. There are numerous sub-categories of each of these as well. There are also good quanities of scrapbook titles and funny sayings available as well with their own sub-categories. All in all, a very-substantial quantity of scrapbooking fonts and phrases are readily available and most of these are intended for digital scrapbooking applications.
Anyone old enough to remember the old sheets of rub-down lettering and stencils that were used in the 50s, 60s and early 70s has a good idea what was available before the age of personal computers. Those items were difficult to use, dried out easily and cracked, but they were all there was. Today, thanks to digital technology, all that has been superceded by arrays of scrapbooking fonts which are easily transferred by computer to paper and are ready for use by scrapbookers.
Enter “scrapbooking fonts”into any computer’s web browser and you will be met by page after page of websites who offer them. These fonts are usually available in collections assigned under categories like those discussed above. Happily enough, there are more of these available as free downloads (freeware) than there are as products for sale. It is entirely possible to assemble a collection for your computer without ever taking out your credit or debit card or writing a check. That’s how many are at your disposal.
Fonts are often used primarily for headlines and section descriptors rather than in sizeable blocks of running text. They really go a long way toward making your scrapbook pages very custom, unque and distinctive. Besides scrapbooking applications, available fonts can be quite useful when printed and given to children who are charged with preparing school crafts projects. However you use them, scrapbooking fonts will definitely fulfill a need in your creative scrapbooking projects.
